Richard James Bethoney

Richard James Bethoney, age 91, husband of 64 years to his beloved wife Virginia (Levy) Bethoney, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at AdviniaCare Baypointe in Brockton, MA. Richard was born on Monday, July 6, 1931, in Boston, MA, and was the son of the late James and Elsie (Yahoub) Bethoney. In addition to his wife Virginia, Richard is survived by his son Richard Bethoney and his wife Karen of Middleburg, FL, daughter Helen Ward of West Bridgewater, MA, son Maxwell Bethoney of Taunton, MA, six grandchildren: Robert and Chris Richard, Kristen Lavalee, Maxwell, Katherine, and Sarah Bethoney, brother James Bethoney and his wife Linda of Arizona, and eleven great-grandchildren. Richard was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters, two grandchildren, and a son in law.
Richard and his wife Virginia moved to Brockton, MA, in 1964, where together they raised 3 children. He had a long career as a cab driver with the I.T.O.A. for 30 years, along with many odd jobs. Richard will be remembered for the love he had for his wife and family, his stories of the many famous people he picked up while driving a cab, his love of cooking and his unforgettable unique sense of humor. A private family celebration of life will be held on February 11, 2023.
