Richard Biers Obituary

Richard Lee Biers, age 76, of Free Soil, MI passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 2, 2025. Rick was born in Manistee to Wayne L. Biers and Gloria (Fowler) Biers on September 9, 1948. Rick was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Gloria; sister Sharon Stark (Biers); and brother Jonathan Biers. Rick is survived by his son Sam Biers of Montana; his brother Frank Biers (Millicent); brother Robert Biers (Tina); sister Carol (Biers) Chambers (Doug), and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Rick was an avid sportsman, an exceptionally gifted chess player and a musical connoisseur whose love for Michigan often went unmatched. The home that he built with his son remained one of his most cherished accomplishments. His skills and talents ranged from performing comedy on the radio, inciting independent thought, electrical engineering and he held numerous steam operator licenses. With great passion Rick believed in a higher sense of freedom and liberty afforded to us by God.

Rick chose cremation and as many know he preferred substance over form in his friendships, so the family will try to arrange a celebration of life in the coming weeks.

His unselfish philanthropy, quirky humor and laughter will be missed as we start our new adventures without him.
