Richard R. Blain, 77, of Chopmist Hill Road in N. Scituate, passed away with his loving family by his side on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Massachusetts General Hospital in
Boston, MA. He was the beloved husband of 40+ years to Rose M. (Lillie) Blain.
Born in
Central Falls, RI, he was the son of the late Philip D. and Doris (Joaquim) Blain.
Richard grew up in Cumberland RI. He attended St. Patrick's School then Cumberland H.S. Richard joined the US Navy and served in the Vietnam War on the USS Intrepid Aircraft Carrier from 1967-1971. Upon his return, Richard attended Johnson and Wales University obtaining a degree in Business Administration. He went on to obtain an Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement and became a Correctional Officer, for the RI Dept of Corrections in Cranston RI for 25 years, retiring in 2015. He was very proud of his career and was considered to be a highly respected officer. He kept himself busy being a Jack-of-all-trades, always working on a project, their home and the yard he proudly boasted about. Considered a walking encyclopedia, he was also a lover of music, a car enthusiast who loved his Red Ford Taurus SHO and never missed his favorite shows.
Richard shared 8 wonderful children with Rose, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was referred to as Uncle Meanie by his many nieces and nephews, although not mean but strict. Richard had a great group of friends and neighbors who he shared many fun times, dinners and celebrations. He was lucky enough to travel the world with his wife Rose and some of his closest friends. Richard was a devout and faithful Catholic Servant during his lifetime. Most recently attending St. Joseph's Parish in
N. Scituate, RI.
In addition to his wife, he was survived by his children, Kaitlyn M Hennemann of Coventry RI, Tonya J. Lillie of Pawtucket, Shane A. Lillie (Stacie) of Lincoln, Brian M. Lillie (Linda) of West Warwick, Fierna R. Lillie of Pawtucket, Jacob R. Manzano of North Scituate, Edward Manzano (Taylor) of West Warwick, and Noah A. Manzano of North Scituate; three brothers, Ronald Blain and his wife (Diane) of Cumberland, Robert Blain of N. Attleborough, MA. and Raymond Blain (Bonnie) of N. Brookfield, MA; two sisters, Jeannine (Blain) Haines (Lawrence) of North Attleborough and Judith (Blain) Brunelle (Alan) of Attleboro; 5 grandchildren, Brandon, Marley, Peyton, Taylor and Gabriella and 3 great-grandchildren, Theo, Levi and Elson. He was the brother of the late Roger Blain.
Most of all, Richard loved his wife Rose immensely. He considered her his rock and his world. They met on a blind date, married on a whim and created the best life they could with each other.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Richards Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 144 Danielson Pike, North Scituate, RI, followed by interment with Military Honors in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter,
RI. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, from 4-7 p.m. in the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue,
