Richard Blattner, age 79, of Oak Ridge, passed away on September 19, 2025. He was born on March 28, 1946, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the late Edward and Sylvia Blattner. He moved to Oak Ridge, TN, in 1980 with Shari Villari, also from Milwaukee, and they married in Cades Cove in June of that year. Richard worked as an engineer at Bechtel, ORNL, and Y-12, and retired from Y-12 at the age of 70. Dick loved hiking more than anything, and the Smoky Mountains were his favorite place. He enjoyed reading, playing chess, and spending time with his dogs. After retiring, Dick volunteered at Methodist Medical Center and the St. Mary's food pantry. Dick and his wife, Shari, were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oak Ridge, and he attended Mass weekly until he was physically unable to do so.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers Jim, John, Tom, and Chuck, and his sister Mildred Bea.

He is survived by his sister, Marge Nencka (Dan), wife, Shari Blattner; son, Eddie Blattner (Jean); grandson, CJ; daughter, Jessica Harron; grandchildren, Aidan, Madeline, Emma, and Liam.

The family would like to thank their many friends and neighbors who have been there for them.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, his number one charity, although he had many. The family will have a private dinner to celebrate and honor his life. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. Holleygamble.com
