I remember all the good times with family and friends at Sammy's Pizza.
My friends would go roller skating and go to Sammy's Pizza for some good times and memories.
Richard will be missed.

As a neighbor, I got to know Dick at our National Night Out gatherings here in our driveway. He and Sue never missed one. We hit it off and I really looked forward to talking with him as he always had a story to tell and he was a good listener too.
The last year or so we would run into each other at Coborns a couple of times a month and complain about grocery prices. In addition, it wasn't unusual to cross paths at the Hayloft Bar on Wednesday nights when their special was a Hot Beef Commercial Sandwich.
We always shared a laugh and I felt good about that. Dick, buddy I will miss you.

My very first job was babysitting for Dick and Peggy. Trying to keep three boys and two girls happy when I was only a few years older than Steve was quite the challenge but I loved every minute of it! Those days in Fernwood were the best!
Love and hugs to you and your families Tom, Suzie and Roxy!!!

I got to know Dick through his son Joe in our early baseball and hockey days. After summer youth baseball the team would march over to Martini´s where Joe would reveal a crisp $20 and would buy for all.
That was Dick!
Dick was a fine example of how to live your life, always treating people with appreciation, respect and generosity.
A true small business owner in every sense of the word, a model to follow for success. A strong supporter and asset to his community, he will be missed.
My condolences.

Roxie & Sue, so many of my favorite childhood memories include you two and playing in your backyard, watching monster movies in your parents room, and hanging out at Sammy´s watching your dad make pizza. Your dad was always larger than life, laughing & smiling, and just made everything feel safe. I´m so thankful I got to grow up knowing your family - sending you all my love.

Drove pizzas from Sammy´s through college. Great to work for ! I got $20 for gas and on Wednesday I wouldn´t use that much and could pocket the money but did not have as many deliveries but had time to study between runs. On fridays I´d use more than $20 in gas but would make more from deliveries getting the delivery fees and tips. Dick was full of joy and a pleasure to work for .

I remember when Sammy's was in the original building my dad used to take me in there to get pizza because it was his favorite. Dick would open up the candy machine that they had at the restaurant. they also had a cigarette machine but he opened up the candy machine and he'd give me a whole candy bar I thought that
was amazing!!! I loved when they were at the 5th Avenue location and you could go by the window and watch the guys making the pizzas I thought that was so cool.

My deepest condolences to the entire family. Your dad was a profound influence on my life and the reason I entered-and stayed-in the restaurant business. So many times, I would share stories with my team about lessons I learned from Dick: the importance of connecting with everyone, never compromising on quality, and always doing things the right way. Every time I saw him, he had a smile that could brighten my day. He truly left his mark on this world, and he will be deeply missed. I am just sorry that I did not see him more often. Thoughts and prayers to you all. Brian Windschitl
