Obituary of Richard L. Bosh
Richard Lee Bosh, a devoted servant of God, loving husband, and dedicated Salvation Army officer, was promoted to Glory on November 28, 2025 at the age of 89. Born on December 30, 1935, Richard lived a life defined by unwavering faith, deep compassion for others, and a steadfast commitment to ministry.
Richard married the love of his life, Geraldine Ruth (Russel) Bosh, and together they built a legacy grounded in service, family, and faith. He was the proud father of Richard Scott Bosh, Laura Lee Gonzalez, and Cynthia Lynn Dean, and a cherished grandfather to Joshua, Kayla, Tyler, Karissa, and Nathan. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren-Valentina, Amayah, and Elias-who brought him tremendous joy in his later years.
From a young age, Richard felt a clear calling to serve. At just 18, he entered the Salvation Army training school and began a lifelong ministry marked by devotion, humility, and strength. He served faithfully for decades, earning the rank of Major, and retired at the age of 65. Retirement, however, never slowed his heart for ministry. Richard continued serving as a Chaplain and counselor at the Rochester Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center until the age of 89, offering hope, encouragement, and spiritual guidance to countless individuals.
Richard and Geraldine made their home in Irondequoit, NY, where they enjoyed many years of family, fellowship, and quiet joy. Richard loved music and was often found playing the piano, lifting spirits with hymns and favorite melodies. He also enjoyed playing tennis and basketball, and in quieter moments, he could be found watching classic westerns and old movies-simple pleasures that brought him comfort and delight.
Though he faced numerous health challenges, including amyloidosis and cancer, Richard met every hardship with remarkable courage and faith. He remained strong and determined for as long as he could, trusting God through every battle.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Martha (Lynn) Bosh, and his siblings Larry, Jimmy, and Jennifer. He leaves behind a family who loved him dearly and countless lives touched by his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to serving God and others.
Richard's legacy will live on through the many people he ministered to, the family he cherished, and the example of steadfast faith he modeled every day of his life. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
