Richard Bradway Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 25, 2025.
Richard M. Bradway 1946-2025 A respected Realtor since 1972, Richard was the Broker/Co-Owner of Bradway, Moore and Associates Realtors, selling his company to Coldwell Banker in 1996. Eight years later he founded Richard Bradway and Associates, Realtors, which joined Premier Sotheby's International Realty fifteen years ago. Known for his thorough knowledge and love of the real estate market, his professionalism, and his sincere care for customers, Richard earned a reputation for his "handshake integrity" and as a trusted expert in his field. Born in Kokomo, Indiana in 1946, his family moved to Venice in the early 60s. After graduating from Venice High School in 1964, Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy, completing two tours in Vietnam aboard the USS Newport News and received numerous Navy unit commendations. His love for the Navy and for his fellow veterans remained strong throughout his life. He was a devoted family man, married to Linda Shearer Bradway for nearly 40 years. Together, they made their home in the Venice Golf and Country Club, where they shared many cherished memories. Richard is survived by his loving family: his son Michael (Jemve) Bradway, daughters Jacquelyn (Bill) Somach and Rebecca (Tim) Willis, and grandchildren Evan and Dylan Bradway, Isabella Cibelli DuTerroil, Sydney Willis, Cassie (Idan) Goldenberg, and Jake Willis, nephews Rick, Kent, B.J. of Arkansas, Tony Bradway of Michigan, Dean Allen of South Carolina, as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews. Predeceasing Richard was his father, Robert F. Bradway, his mother, Sareta Nielson, his brother, Robert Bradway and nephew Troy Bradway. A man of many passions, Richard loved the NFL, diving, golf, animals, and dancing. He was a past Sertoman of the Year, a member of the Venice Area Board of Realtors for over 50 years where he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award and was known throughout the Venice community for his humor, compassion, and generous spirit. A private burial will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made to Hospice or to an animal shelter of your choice. Richard's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, laughed with him, danced with him and loved him.

My first real estate sale was representing the buyers of a property that Richard Bradway was the listing agent. The property was on Venice Beach listed at $1.2 million dollars. This is over 20 years ago! My buyers still own this property. I was so nervous and Richard was such a great mentor!! Those were the days when a handshake still meant something. Patty Wheeler as on his team. Total class! We are all in our 4th quarter from that era. Rest in heaven you earned your wings helping so many of us throughout the years!
