Richard "Dick" Thomas Buller, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud U.S. Navy veteran, passed away peacefully November 13, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, faith, and cherished stories. Born in
Kinder, LA, Dick grew up with a deep connection to family, community, and the outdoors. Out of his sense of adventure and dedication, Dick joined the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country. While stationed in San Jose, CA, Dick met and married Louella Beeson. Together, they welcomed two daughters before returning to Westlake, Louisiana, where they completed their family with the birth of their third daughter. Dick spent his career at the Conoco VCM plant, a place where his hard work and reliability, earned him the respect of his coworkers and the friendships he carried with him long after retirement. Retirement gave Dick the time to fully embrace what he loved most: hunting, fishing, and sharing the kind of stories that only he could tell. His tales over a strong cup of coffee and often at the fire station, were always delivered with a twinkle in his eye and a dramatic flair. After the passing of Louella, Dick was blessed to reconnect with and marry his high school sweetheart, Martha Fontenot. Their time together brought comfort, companionship, and renewed joy into his life.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters Rebecca Hetzler (Dan) and Pam Johnson (Wayne); his bonus children Kat, Kandy, and Greg Lingner; his grandchildren TJ "Timothy" Hetzler, Paul Hetzler, Sabrina Castille (Kent), Courtney Croft (Chase), Candice Croft (Kyle), Abigail La (Arkin), Mary Henry (Ricky), Joseph Parsons (Lana), Ryan and Ronnie Lingner; and his great-granddaughters Lily, Zoey, and Harlie Croft, and Elise Castille. He is also lovingly remembered by extended family, many dear friends, his Kinder community, and his American Legion family. Special thanks to his nephew Ernie and the Kinder Fire Department for all of the coffee and conversations. And great appreciation to his grandson TJ who offered ease and comfort during Dick's last months. Both men enjoyed a renewal of delight in the reading of scripture and strength through His eternal teachings.
Dick is preceded in death by his wives Louella and Martha; his daughter Cynthia and bonus son Jack; his parents (Mary and Charlie Buller Sr.); and his eight siblings: Cecil Ray, Charlie Jr., Clyde, Andrew, David, Jewel Burke, Inez Savant and Margie Palmer.
Dick will be remembered for his love of family, his service to his country, his passion for the outdoors, and the stories-oh, the stories (think basketball championship)-that shaped the memories of all who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed,
