Richard S. Burris

Richard S. Burris, 77, of Richland Center, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. Richard was born on September 6, 1948, in Richland Center, the son of John and Teressa (Monson) Burris. After graduating from Richland Center High School, he attended University of Wisconsin – Platteville, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. Richard taught band and orchestra in the Dodgeville School District his entire career. Upon retirement he returned to Richland Center, where he resided until his death.

Richard was a faithful servant of the Lutheran Church for many years and enjoyed interaction with those in the Christian faith. Music continued to be a big part of his life whether he was teaching or playing for services at the church.

Richard is survived by his sister: Sylvia (James) Camella of Pennsylvania; nephews: Matthew and Brian (Jennifer) Camella.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the Pratt Memorial Chapel in Richland Center. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 10:30 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Burial was held in the Five Points Lutheran Cemetery.
