Richard J. Capaldo, 75, of Cranston, passed away on March 17, 2025 at the Grandview Center with his family by his side. He was the husband of Jeanne (Boudreau) Capaldo and the late Barbara (Oakley) Capaldo.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Salvatore and Angelina (Ritacco) Capaldo.
Richard received his Bachelor of Education from Rhode Island College and then obtained two Master’s Degrees in education from Providence College.
Richard was a lifelong educator. He began as a school teacher in Coventry. He then worked as a principal in Central Falls and at the Sherman School in Warwick, before retiring from the Middletown School Department.
Richard was a kind, generous, and selfless individual who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was an avid Notre Dame and New England Patriots fan.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Kathryn LaFrance and her husband Kyle, his stepchildren, Jeremy Gambardella and his wife, Melanie, and Jennifer Votolato and her husband, Raymond, three step-grandchildren, Larissa, Jillian, and James Gambardella, two brothers, Michael Capaldo and his wife, Sherrie, and Salvatore Capaldo and his wife, Paula, and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025 at 9 am from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Rocco's Church, 927 Atwood Ave., Johnston. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours Sunday from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.
