Guy Capaldo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, Lexington Avenue Chapel on Sep. 15, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Mansfield – Dr. Guy Capaldo, age 75, of Mansfield, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 12, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Fittingly, he passed away at OhioHealth Mansfield-within the very walls where he had spent so many years delivering babies.

He was born on January 1, 1950, in Bisaccia, Italy to Arturo Nunziante and Maria Carmela (Ciani) Capaldo. Guy graduated from the University of Dayton with an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and then graduated from The Ohio State University with a master's in electrical engineering before following his true calling into medicine. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo in 1978 and completed his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Toledo.

Guy began his career in 1982 and faithfully served as an OB/GYN until his retirement in May 2014. It is estimated that he delivered over 7,000 babies during his 32-year career. Retirement did not end his service, however-he went on to work with Women's Care for another 11 years before officially retiring again earlier this year. He leaves behind many professional associates, partners and patients he enjoyed working with for over four decades. He cared for thousands of women and families, welcoming new life into the world with great skill, compassion, and the love of Christ guiding him.

Guy's legacy is one of service, faith, and devotion. A devout Catholic, he was a devoted member of Resurrection Parish for more than 45 years. He held many roles within the church and helped wherever he was needed. He was also a proud 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus, faithfully living out his Catholic values through service and brotherhood.

Outside of medicine, Guy enjoyed traveling with Kathy and especially loved cruises where they could relax together. After retiring, he took up golf and found joy in the game. He enjoyed attending summer concerts on the lawn and was an avid reader, often immersing himself in medical and scientific journals-always eager to keep learning. Most importantly, Guy cherished his family. He was the ultimate provider, deeply devoted to ensuring their well-being in every way.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy (Nicita) whom he married on April 20, 1985; son Nicholas "Nick" Capaldo; brother John Capaldo; nephews Mario Capaldo and John Capaldo; and numerous extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 4–7 pm in the Lexington Avenue Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, where a prayer service will begin promptly at 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 10 am in Resurrection Parish, with Father John Miller officiating. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Resurrection Parish, reflecting Guy's devoted faith as the parish undergoes renovations.
