It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Richard Carrier, who left us on July 30, 2025. Born on February 7, 1934, in International Falls, MN, Richard was renowned for his warmth, resilience, and unwavering dedication to his family. A man of patience and strength, he was a beacon of light and love to his family, friends, and community in Kent, Washington, where he resided. He was a single father of five, a role he took on with great courage and commitment. His love for his children was boundless, and he was a sterling example of hard work, integrity, and selflessness. In his professional life, Richard was a dedicated and accomplished driver, both locally and on long hauls. Retiring from Safeway in 1999, he was recognized for his impeccable safety record, having driven three million miles without an accident. His dedication to his work was only surpassed by his love for the great outdoors. Richard was an avid astronomer, hiker, and nature enthusiast, known for his frequent road trips and his passion for gold panning. He played a pivotal role in building the Cascade Pistol and Rifle Club, and was an active member of the VFW. In the words of Psalm 121, "I lift up my eyes to the mountains-where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth." We invite you to celebrate Richard's life at Edline-Yahn & Covington Funeral Chapel in Kent, Washington. The viewing will take place at 10:00 am PDT on Monday, August 18, 2025, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am PDT and the reception at 12:00 pm PDT. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Tahoma National Cemetery at 2:00 pm PDT. Please share your memories of Richard and upload photos to his memorial page. Your stories, pictures, and words of condolence will serve as a comfort to us all during this sorrowful time. We thank you for your love and support as we remember and honor Richard's life.
