Richard Joseph Catoni

Richard Joseph Catoni passed away peacefully December 19th, 2025 at the age of 75. Born December 18th, 1950 in the city of Detroit. Beloved son of the late James C. Catoni and late Hattie M. Catoni. Dearest brother of the late James (Susan), late Judith, late Ronald, Robert (Dawn) & John (Terri). Loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Rick is loved and missed by many, most of whom have been in his life since youth. He spent his life as a loving and caring person, with a gentle soul that could calm anyone during hard times. He was quick witted, ready with a joke or anecdote to lighten up any mood.

Rick was a masterful musician from a young age, excelling at multiple instruments, singing, and songwriting. The guitar was where his heart lay, and he had a natural talent for it beyond words. A lover of the blues and a player of emotion, he often mirrored the signature licks of his favorite guitarist B.B. King.

While music was his biggest passion, Rick also loved nature, being outdoors, and sports. Swimming and tennis were a couple of his favorite activities, and there wasn’t a local team he didn’t support. On top of all this, family was central to his life. He grew up in a big family and with a lot of friends. Big spaghetti dinners and watching football every Sunday with family and friends were some of his favorite days. Adventurous and unafraid, Rick lived his life on his own terms, doing everything he wanted to do, when he wanted to do it and at his own pace. His spirit and soul will be felt eternally.
