Richard Maurice Choiniere

SWANTON - Richard Choiniere, age 85, passed away on Sunday, September 21st, 2025 at the UVM Medical Center.

Richard was born on October 7, 1939, to Maurice and Esther Choiniere.

Richard was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who lived a life full of love, joy, and adventure, always surrounded by the warmth of his family and community.

Richard was a man of simple pleasures. He found enjoyment in the great outdoors, whether it was fishing, horse and buggy rides, camping and spending quality time with his grandchildren. A Christmas tradition he always looked forward to was taking the grandkids out to look at the lights. He had a sharp tongue and a kind heart. A familiar face in the village square, Richard could often be found selling potatoes, sharing stories, and engaging with his friends.

Richard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jeanette Choiniere; children, David Choiniere and Cindy, Duane Choiniere and Rachael, Cindy Choiniere and David Langlais, Jeff Choiniere, Sue Day and Jeff; grandchildren, Ty, Kyle, Allison, Brooke, Chelsea, Colt, Logan, Alex; great grandchildren, Cameron, Waylan, Jaxon, Mckinley, Merritt, Carrigan, Josie, Ellie and Poppy; a sister and brother. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Maurice and Esther, and son, Todd Choiniere.

In respecting Richard's wishes, services will be held privately.
