Richard was born in Manhattan January 30, 1939, to his loving parents, Ernest Cirone and Mae Finn. Richard was a loving brother to Elizabeth Cirone. He was married, for 59 years, to the love of his life Linda Lombino. He is the proud father of Brian, Janine, Lauren, and a miscarried baby. Richard fulfilled a dream by serving as a gunner in the US Navy. He enjoyed many hobbies in life such as boxing, which he got to do competitively in the Navy. He was also an excellent woodworker just like his Father. He was also a skilled electrician. Richard was always working to fix something. He had a passion for reading and memorization. These skills helped him to become a math whiz who then helped all his children and grandchildren excel in math. Richard was known by his entire family, and all his friends, as one of the kindest, most generous person around. Richard is the fond father-in-law of Meng (FeiFei), Cirone, Rick Kadrie, and Michael Ryan. He was known as poppy to his 8 grandchildren Rebekah, Sarah, David, Hannah, Ella, Kevin, Michael, and Matthew as well as his 3 great grandchildren Marnie, Zeke, and Emma. Professionally Richard was an electrical engineer for CBS television. He worked Presidential conventions, 60 minutes, CBS sports, David Letterman, and other shows amassing 7 Emmys during his time there. Poppy spent his last day on earth doing what he loved. He was fixing his refrigerator with his grandson Michael Richard. He had his two dogs with him, Willy and Waldo, when he passed. Poppy drew his strength and comfort from many areas of his life but no area more than his love of the Lord and time spent with the Bible. Richard Cirone went home to be with the Lord, and his wife, on the 21st day of August, 2025. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at the John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd. (at Eltingville Station), Staten Island, New York. A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Holy Child Church located at 4747 Amboy Road Staten Island, New York 10312. Cremation will be private.
