Richard Collison Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fischer Family Funeral Services - Saginaw on Oct. 31, 2025.
Richard Kenneth "Ken" Collison, age 85, of Saginaw, passed away Monday, October 27, 2025, due to complications resulting from dementia. The son of Jack and Margaret (Gulvas) Collison, Ken was born on February 5, 1940.
After graduating from Holy Family Catholic High School, he attended Bay City Junior College and worked in his father's paint store. In 1962, he joined the Army, serving in the Vietnam arena as an MP for seven years. He worked at Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company and then joined the City of Saginaw Police Department as a patrol officer, retiring in 1987. While a policeman, Ken was known as a sharpshooter and excellent marksman, traveling with the police pistol team and winning awards. He married Jeanine Schlicker and they had three children, Holly, Kenneth, and Kerri. He later married Aija Hall and "inherited" three stepchildren, Andreja, Aija, and Bill. Ken had a love for outdoor pursuits and best of all, hunting and fishing. His family fish fries were legendary. Most of all, Ken was known for his love of family and friends, taking on kind deeds for those he knew and strangers alike.
Ken is survived by his wife, Aija Collison; children, Holly Kay Thomas (fiancé Ken Hite), Kenneth John (Tracy) Collison, and Kerri Lynn (Lief) White; stepchildren, Andreja Boensch, Aija Hall, and Bill Hall; grandchildren, Thomas, John, Luke, Gabriel, and David Collison, Skyra, Rayna, Eden, and Danu White; siblings, Patricia Brettrager, Bridget (Don) Bittner and Michael (Sheila) Collison; former spouse, Jeanine Collison; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Margaret Collison; siblings, John "Jack" Collison, James Collison, and Joyce (Bill) Rice; son in law, Danu White.
A Celebration of Life for Ken will be held in the near future.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
