Richard P. Copeman

Richard P. Copeman, 78, of Irwin, died Friday, February 20, 2026, at home. He was born December 18, 1947 in Wilkinsburg, a son of the late Charles and Mary (Pierce) Copeman. Rich was retired from General Motors, Fisher Body Plant, West Mifflin. He loved cars, and enjoyed building and fixing them. He was into hotrods and antiques but his big love was for dirt track racing. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was a member of the Norwin Elks. In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife of 30 years Leah A. (Simons) Copeman; his children Clayton Copeman (Jeny York) of Greensburg and Wendy Whittle (Dax) of Nevada; his step children Christopher Highberger (Leslie) and Kara Wheaton (Thomas) both of Irwin; his grandchildren Carly Highberger, Nick Doubleday, Gage Wheaton, Lucas Copeman, Gunner Wheaton, Ethan Whittle, Zarah Whittle, Aubrey Copeman, Daxton Whittle, Grady Wheaton, and Cash Copeman; also nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers Robert and Ronald Copeman.
