Richard (Dick) Joseph Cresap, age 93, of Belen, New Mexico, a resident of Belen, entered into heaven, hand in hand with our Lord on April 6, 2025. After the anointing of the sick, he was taken to Lovelace hospital where his loving family said their goodbyes, then shortly after angels came and escorted another angel home.
Richard was born in Fort Madison, lowa in 1931 and later moved to Clovis New Mexico where he grew up and met Eugenia (Jean) Cresap. While Jean was in nurses training, Dick joined the Air Force and served in the Philippines during the Korean conflict. Upon his return, Dick married Jean and remained devoted to his wife for fifty-five and a half years until her death on January 12, 2010.
They always imparted values, morality and most of all a very Godly faith to their three sons and wives, Steve (Gabriella), John (Zane) and Patrick, thirteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren as well as four siblings, many cousins, in-laws, extended family and all of the "lost sheep" that wandered through the door from time to time and needed their love, advice, a shoulder to cry on or a place to stay for a while.
Dick is preceded in death by his wife Jean, his parents, Joseph Richard and Marie Amanda Cresap, a sister Jean Marie, one son Patrick Richard, one grandson Richard Martin and one great-grandson, Esteban Arbulu.
Dick is known, loved and will be missed by his family, many friends and extended family. We offer our thanks and appreciation for all the prayers and support during this time. We ask that in lieu of flowers that donation be made to the Right to Life Committee of New Mexico. Services will take place at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Friday May 16, 2025 with the family receiving friends beginning at 9:00 AM, with a rosary to be recited at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, where an online guest register is available at www.noblin.com
