Richard Carnell Davis

Richard Carnell Davis, affectionately known as "June Boy," was born on February 28, 1930, in Spartanburg, SC, to the late Ada Bell Parham Davis and the late Richard Davis. He was educated in the Spartanburg County School District and developed a strong work ethic early in life that would define him for decades.

Richard was faithfully employed with Spartanburg Steel for thirty-four years until his retirement. During his tenure, he was entrusted with special responsibilities and was selected to travel overseas to learn, develop, and assist with the implementation of new equipment plans for the company. His dedication, intelligence, and reliability earned him the respect of both colleagues and leadership.

Outside of work, Richard lived an active and disciplined life. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid walker, often taking several mile long walks daily. He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching various athletic events and staying engaged with the world around him. Most importantly, Richard was a devout Christian who began and ended each day reading his Bible. His faith guided his life and was evident through his long-standing service with Meals on Wheels, where he gave freely of his time to care for others.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Geneva Hutchinson, Charles Davis, Edward Davis, and Virginia Davis; grandson, Shawn Bobo; great grandson, Dearrius Bobo; grandson-in-law, John Paul Richardson.

Left to cherish his life, legacy, and loving memory are his children Katheryn (Anthony) Flemmings of Moore, SC, Vickie (James) Colvin of Spartanburg, SC, and L.C. (Kathleen) Carson of Boiling Springs, SC; his sister Annetta (Charles) Durham of Greenville, SC; his grandchildren Felicia Bobo, Terrance (Makesha) Bobo, Tojuana (Terry) Clark, Kareem Carson, Sabrina Carson, Dorothy Colvin, Richard M. Carson, and Ashley Farr; twenty nine great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

On January 2, 2026, Richard transitioned peacefully at his home surrounded by family. His life was marked by faithfulness, service, and quiet strength, and he will be deeply and sorely missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
