Richard T. Dawson, Jr., 74, of Chichester passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Saturday, February 28th after a period of declining health.

Born in Manchester on December 31, 1951, Richard was the son of the late Richard Dawson, Sr. and Mary Dolores (Cormier) Dawson.

He served in the Marine Corps in the Vietnam era.

Richard was the owner and operator of Dawson Fence Company for more than 20 years until his retirement.

He loved the outdoors and skiing, snowboarding, hiking and fishing. He was an instructor at Loon Mountain in the fencing off-season. He enjoyed playing guitar, birdwatching, and crafting beautiful objects in his woodshop.

He shared 30 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Lisa (Transue) Dawson of Chichester. He was a proud and loving father to his daughter, Marnie Currier and husband Scott. He also leaves his cherished stepchildren: Rachel Marland and husband Kyle, Kimberly Peacock, Christen Wagner and Jessica Wagner.

He is survived by his sisters Delima (Lee) Fitzgerald-Pierce, Denise Dawson-Smith, and Dolores (Dodie) Hooper. He was predeceased by his parents; his half-sister, Judith Rouleau and his brothers-in-law, Ronald Pierce and Peter Smith.

Nothing brought Richard greater pride than his grandchildren, he loved passing on his stories and life skills to them. He will be lovingly remembered by Alexandra Dawson; Braden and Gavin Currier, Marcus and Gabriel Marland and great granddaughters Vivienne and Lenore Verrecchia; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Richard will be remembered for his strong work ethic, adventurous spirit, musical soul, and deep devotion to his family. His warmth, humor, and steady presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
