Richard "Dick" Franklin Deal, 90, of Perrysburg passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at home. He was born October 3, 1934, to Albert W. and Verna M. (Fahle) Deal. He graduated from Lake Schools in 1953 and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. On August 6, 1960, he married Marjorie A. "Marge" Radeloff at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pemberville, OH. Dick was re-united with Marge on the day which would have been their 65th anniversary. Together they raised 5 children.

Dick began working odd jobs at a very early age starting at the C & O Railroad. In 1956, he joined the United States Marine Corps where he served as a Military Policeman with top secret clearance. He was honorably discharged in 1958 and couldn't be prouder of his daughter and six grandsons continuing the legacy of service. After the Marine Corps, he secured a job with Teledyne CAE working on jet engines for the military as an Instrumentation Engineer. Because he was not a man to sit still for long, after retirement he began refurbishing homes and building wood crafts (happily giving his special crafts to anyone who did something nice for him or showed an interest).

Dick was a man of great faith and an active member of Salem-Grace United Lutheran Church in Luckey, where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He was known for his voice and looked forward to singing at various events for his family and friends. He also shared his love of the spoken word to anyone and everyone he met. He may not have been the dad\grandpa to attend events, but he was sure quick to tell stories of what his kids and grandkids were doing.

Dick is survived by his children: Rachelle (Brad) Lally of CA, David (Julia) Deal of MI, Darlene Deal of Perrysburg, Sarah (Phil) Burrow of MI, and Denese (James) Cady of TN. Grandchildren, Brian, Troy, Brandon, Danny, Jonas, Allison, Eric, Rachel, Rebecca and Kenneth. His "adopted" children, Bill and Bonnie, and many others who happily called him Grandpa Deal. Brothers: Jerry Deal, Donnie Deal, and Bob (Sue) Deal, sisters: Sandy Konieczny and Doris Lafferty; sisters-in-law Carol (Radeloff) Deal, Sharon (Radeloff) Knitt, and Nancy (Ratliff) Deal; brother-in-law Ray Fry and Bill and Rose Kusian as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Dick was preceded in death by his brothers James, Ted, Paul; sisters Betty (and Earl) Kusian, Pauline (and Paul) Spencer, Ruth (and Hank) Jabs, Beverly (and Marion) Hicks, Carol Fry; brothers-in-law Kenneth Knitt, Carl Konieczny and Larry Lafferty; sisters-in-law, Bonita (Adkins) Deal and Connie (Kohnke) Deal; nieces Chris (Hicks) Poling and Paulette (Spencer) Colombo; nephew Gregory Knitt.

Family and friends will be received 2-7 p.m., Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, 110 West Main Street, Luckey, OH. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, August 16, 2025, with additional visitation from 10 a.m., until time of service at Salem-Grace United Lutheran Church, 216 Main Street, Luckey. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Pemberville, OH. Officiating will be Pastor Brandi Bailie. Memorials may take the form of contributions to: Salem-Grace United Lutheran Church and Care 360 Hospice.
