Richard Lee Ashton, age 89, of Perrysburg, OH passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Heritage Corner in Bowling Green. He was born on July 14, 1936 in Youngstown, OH to Ralph Sullivan and Vera Mae (Redifer) Ashton. He would later serve his nation in the United States Navy, then attend Ohio University where he graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering, and subsequently designed fire control systems for Naval submarines at the Newport News shipyards in Virginia. He met Harriette Campbell while at O.U., and they were married March 25, 1962 in Mount Gilead, OH. Richard and Harriette raised 5 children and celebrated over 63 years of marriage together.

Richard worked as an Electrical Engineer, first with Reliance Electric, then Emerson Electric, and later founded his own firm, Uptime Power Conversion Services, which he operated for 20 plus years. He was a dedicated member of A.A., he enjoyed taking nature walks along the river, collecting rocks, taking photos of wild flowers, identifying trees, playing bridge with his wife, and playing poker with his sons and their friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who he also enjoyed golfing with. Richard loved attending his grandchildren's soccer games, where he was known for shouting "Shoot'em up!" from the sidelines. He was also known for his "unique" vocabulary and turns of phrase.

In addition to his wife Harriette, Richard is survived by his children: Dyrk Ashton, Drew Ashton, Dillon (Irina) Ashton, Daphne Ashton Early, and Dianna Ashton. Grandchildren: Simon (Chelsea) Ashton, Sasha (Liz) Ashton, Margaret Cochrane, Donovan Cochrane, Wyatt Early, and Weston Early. He was preceded in death by his parents.
