Vivian Leona French Allen, 98, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully from physical death into eternal life at 3:05 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025 in NCR Chillicothe following an extended illness.

She was born February 22, 1927, in Jackson County, Ohio, to the late Marshall and Helen Creachbaum French. On October 21, 1949, she married Harold R. Allen who passed September 8, 2008. They had three children, Terry, Cindy and Kyle.

Surviving are daughters, Terry (Mike) Borland of Lancaster, Cindy (Mike) Hensley of Gahanna, and Kyle (Lynn) Allen of Xenia; grandchildren, Lindsey (Craig) Stevenson of Circleville, Seth Borland of Lancaster, and Chris Allen and Nick Allen both of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Chase, Lane, and Harper Stevenson all of Circleville; nephews, Michael (Sarah) Allen, Jeff Allen, and Terry (Kim) French; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Allen.

She was preceded in death by her father, Marshall French; mother, Helen Creachbaum French; husband, Harold Allen; a grandson, Sgt. Brandon Allen, USMC; a brother, Howard French; brothers-in-law, Dwight Allen and Charles Allen; a nephew, Rick French; nieces Sheila Gray and Mindy Allen; and a sister-in-law, Lettalee Cottrill.

Mrs. Allen graduated from Southeastern High School in 1945. She was president of her senior class, was on the cheerleading squad and was also active in many other school activities. After high school graduation, she attended Ohio University and received a 2-year teaching certificate. Vivian had taught at Southeastern Local School District and Huntington Local Schools for several years. She was a member of Walnut Street United Methodist Church for 63 years, had served as the church's Secretary for 20 years, and was a member of the church's Miriam Rebecca Circle for 60 years. Vivian was an avid bowler and had bowled on the Keglerettes Women Bowling League for over 20 years. She also volunteered as a poll worker. Vivian loved to vacation and spend time with family at Lakeside, Ohio.

Vivian's wish was that all of her relatives and friends attend her service of resurrection life at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2025 at the WARE FUNERAL HOME, Chillicothe, Ohio with Pastor Therese Lehman officiating. Burial will follow in Little Mound Cemetery, Richmond Dale, Ohio. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Saturday.

The family would like to extend a special "thank you" for all the levels of care and services provided by Chillicothe National Church Residences staff. They also want to thank Dr. Mowery-Fisk and her office staff for all their compassionate care, as well as, special friends John McCambridge and Penny Easterday for their support and friendship.
