Richard Allen DeStefano, Sr., age 74, of Delta, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 25, 2025. Born in Baltimore, MD, on August 31, 1950, he was the son of the late Leo and Elizabeth (Diel) DeStefano. He was the devoted husband of 52 years to his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth (Kammann) DeStefano.

Richard proudly served his country in the National Guard and later retired from Baltimore Gas and Electric, where he worked for many years as a gas mechanic. He loved caring for his yard and could often be found on his tractor, happily mowing the grass several times a week. A true car enthusiast, he found joy in restoring old vehicles, including a 1963 Impala, 1969 Mustang, 1938 Chevy, 1971 Monte Carlo, 1944 pickup truck, 1951 Ford truck, and a 1987 Corvette. His most cherished project, however, was restoring a 1962 Impala alongside his son-a labor of love that brought back fond memories of his very first car.

Richard also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, like spending time with his golden retriever, "Belle," who rarely left his side. More than anything, he loved being with his family. His greatest joy came from time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he embraced the role of "grandfather" to many of the children who visited his home or lived in the neighborhood.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Richard A. DeStefano, Jr., and his wife, Rebecca Blaney-DeStefano; his daughters, Tammy Lynn Hoke and Heather Marie Hyde, and her husband, Clinton; his grandchildren, Jacob Hoke and his wife, Regan, Adriana Hoke and her companion, Jordan Berry, Hannah Hoke, Josalynn Blake, Christian Kilburn, Alex Kilburn, and Zach Kilburn; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Brantley, Senna, Matthew, Lily, Colson, Winston, Riley, and Jackson. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Mackey, and her husband, Paul.

Funeral services for Richard will be private at the convenience of the family.

Poppop, I want you to know that I love you more than words and I am so blessed that we had 24 years together and that you were able to meet my children. I could not have asked for a better grandfather and role model in my life. You were not only my grandfather but also one of my bestfriends. I will forever cherish the time we had together. Thank you for always having my best interest at heart and always pushing me to be better and do better! I miss you so much already. But I promise you I will be here for Mommom, just like you would want me to be. I find comfort in knowing you'll be watching over us everyday. I love you Poppop

Your thumb, my thumb, as long as we got thumbs, we'll be buddy's.

See you later alligator
