Richard C. Diaferio, Sr.
"Beloved father, grandfather, brother & uncle"
Richard C. Diaferio, Sr., 86, of Waterbury, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Laura J. (Stiscia) Diaferio who passed away in 2010.
Richard was born in Waterbury on July 16, 1936, a son of the late Richard and Mary (DeTulio) Diaferio. He was a graduate of Leavenworth High School. Richard served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Richard was employed at Bristol Babcock for over 30 years until his retirement. Richard was an avid New York Yankee's and New York Giants fan. He enjoyed trips to the casino, cooking and playing cards at the Prospect Senior Center.
He leaves his children, Richard C. Diaferio, Jr. and his companion, Cheryl Lane, of Waterbury, and Mary Ann DeMichele and her husband, Antonio, of Waterbury, his two loving grandchildren, Pasquale DeMichele and his wife, Teresa, of Plymouth, CT and Joseph DeMichele of Middletown, CT, his brother, Joseph Diaferio and his wife, Shirley, of Naples, FL., and a sister-in-law, Marion (Graziano) Diaferio, also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Frank N, Diaferio, Sr.
Arrangements: Funeral will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2022, 9:30 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial / The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Calling hours will be held Monday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
