Richard (Dick) Floyd Leach, Sr died on November 25, 2023 in Chapel Hill, NC after a short illness. He was 97 years old.

Dick was born on June 18, 1926 in Louisburg, NC to Henry and Ruth Gattis Leach. He served in the US Army during World War II, after which he graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce (Business) in 1950. He married Mary Taylor in 1949.

Dick had a 36 year career as comptroller and regional sales manager for Sealtest Foods. After retirement he and Mary enjoyed traveling, playing with their grandchildren and pulling for the North Carolina Tarheels. He was active in the Golden Kiwanis of Chapel Hill and with many volunteer organizations at Carolina Meadows. In his spare time he loved golfing with his Carolina Meadow friends.

Dick and Mary had two children Richard Floyd Leach,Jr and Matthew Taylor Leach.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his son Richard, and his sister Laverne Marion. He is survived by his son Matthew and wife Laura and daughter-in-law Judith Leach. He is also survived by three grandchildren Jennifer Cameron (Cullen), Taylor Leach (Kelly), and Sarah Stucky (Jacob) and five great grandchildren Mary Charlotte Cameron, Miller Cameron, Cooper Leach, Brooks Leach and Julien Stucky.

A private ceremony for family will be held at University United Methodist Church in the Chapel Hill. The family will receive friends at Carolinas Meadows in the Board Room at the Club Center on December 17 from 1-3 pm.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Carolina Meadows for their care of Pa Leach/Grandad. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Carolina Meadows Foundation-Employee Education Fund 100 Carolina Meadows, Chapel Hill, NC 27517. On line donations can be made at:
