Obituary published on Legacy.com by Castillo Funeral Home on Mar. 10, 2024.
Richard Vargas Doñez, 56, husband of Melinda Hinojosa-Doñez, went to be with the Lord on February 23, 2024, at his residence. He was born on December 24, 1967, in
San Antonio, Texas, a son of Hortencia and Richard Doñez.
We will forever cherish the memories of Richard's remarkable life and the impact he made on all those who knew him.
Richard led a life filled with his passions, his enjoyment for being outdoors where he could go fishing, on camping trips or going to the beach. He especially loved to see the world. Richard and Melinda traveled frequently visiting cathedrals, going to concerts and visiting many other places of interest. Opportunities to experience these passions and more alongside family and friends were true times of happiness. He loved to barbecue, and his gatherings were always a hit because you could count on him to entertain those around him with his singing, dancing, stories and jokes. Richard's sense of humor was unmatched, his laughter and smile were infectious, and he had the ability to make those around him do the same.
He dedicated his life to family and will be remembered for his stern, but fair lessons taught during his life. He was an honest man who never hesitated to voice what was on his mind. He believed in positive morals and values and was firm in enforcing them but had a softer side for those who succeeded. Richard had many titles, husband, dad, great chief, grand papa, the family's bob the builder and our man of steel, he was deeply respected by those around him he touched the lives of many. In his last days, once his health declined, he never showed pain or his struggle. His legacy is forever remembered and cherished until we all are reunited once again.
Richard is preceded in death by Hortencia Arizola Doñez, Richard Doñez, Eddie Vargas, Bebe Flores and Molly Gonzalez.
