Richard John "Rich" Ducham

Richard John Ducham passed away unexpectedly July 28, 2025. Rich was born May 18, 1951 to John and Catherine (Smith) Ducham. He resided in South Florida with his partner of 33 years Guy Martinez, whom he married on February 23, 2015. Rich graduated from Merrill High School in 1969 and went on to proudly serve in the United States Army in Vietnam. Upon returning, he attended Central Michigan University (Fire Up Chips), graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Education.
Rich's real passion was baking and he pursued that passion in his career at Publix Super Market, retiring from there after many years. He carried his passion for baking into his personal life, providing countless cakes, cookies and other baked goods for friends and family. Everyone looked forward to seeing what he would "whip up" for social gatherings. He loved spending Monday nights dining and visiting with his extensive Florida Family at a La Bamba. He also enjoyed his visits home to Michigan (in the Summertime if at all possible) catching up with family and friends and exploring "Up North." Rich was also an advocate of abandoned and homeless animals, adopting several animals over the years and welcoming them into his and Guy's home, as well as donating adoption fees and spay and neuter costs so that others could welcome animals in need into their homes.
Rich leaves behind his husband Guy, his two sisters Carol Bennett and Patricia Thom, 11 nieces and nephews (who affectionately called him Uncle – no other name was needed), several Grand & Great nieces & nephews, several cousins, his very special Aunt Patt whom he held dear to his heart, and many close friends both in Florida and Michigan.
Rich was predeceased by his parents, his sister Tuddy Minto, and nephews Jim Minto and Kirby Bennett. Rich's death is a devastating loss to his family & friends.
A celebration of life will be held October 19,2025 from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Lakefield Township Hall 21050 Lakefield Rd. Merrill, MI. Please join Rich's family and share your greatest memories of him.
