My thoughts go out to the Dunlevy family; I served under him on the USS Ponchatoula AO-148, he would always take time to talk about the Navy and it was an honor to present him with an in scripted pen holder that all the ship mates came together with when he was transferred off of the Ponchatoula, I remember his favorite phrase "NUFF SAID" never have forgotten that, RIP Admiral

My deepest condolences to The Dunleavy family, on behalf of myself and my husband Jim Glynn who passed one day after your Dad. Jim would have wanted me to express his sympathies for his long time childhood friend. We kept in touch frequently over the years and have many special memories especially when visiting with your family in Fairfax VA. May Dick and Jim be at peace in Heaven as they see one another again. My love to you all. Madeline Glynn

Admiral Dunleavy was the most influential and effective leader i´ve ever known. It was an honor to serve on the USS Coral Sea during his tenure. After I reenlisted, I had the opportunity to run into him in Subic Bay. I was walking back from Cubi point water skiing and he picked me up in his two star car and dropped me off at my ship. He actually recognized me from the Coral Sea! He was a sailor´s sailor, and an actual American hero. Fairwinds and following seas, sir.

My deepest condolences to
Adm Dunleavy's family.
Skipper was my commanding officer
at VA-128 Whidbey Island Wa.
I was a lowly E-4 back 1973-74
when skipper impacted my life
by nominating me as sailor of the month for a project he gave me to do.
I designed a sign which was posted at the station movie theater that showed how other squardrons ranked against each other.
Skipper told I had helped spark
completion throughout the A-6
community at the end of the Viet Nam war.
He treated me with such
respect, to this day I try to live up
to his example.
Rest in peace and smooth sailing
skipper.
