Richard Stanley Dunn 83 of Caldwell Idaho passed away peacefully with family at his side on April 10th, 2025.
Richard was born May 29, 1941, in Soda Spring Idaho. He was the first-born son of Stanley and Rose Dunn. Richard attended elementary in Georgetown Idaho where his love of horses began as he would spend as much time as he could at Legrande Clark's riding and learning all he could about anything horse related. Richard then attended and graduated high school from Montpelier Idaho. He was a talented athlete who enjoyed basketball and baseball along with fast pitch softball leagues.
In the fall of 1959 Richard attended Utah State University. Because of his love of the outdoors and all things hunting and fishing he obtained a Baccalaureate degree in range management. Upon graduating in 1964 he received a draft notice for the army and decided that the US Navy would be a better fit and started his training in Rhode Island. He attended Officer Candidate School and after graduating as a commissioned officer, he was stationed at Moffett Field in California.
Richard started dating Susan Kunz in the April of 1965 and they were later married on May 6, 1966. They lived in California for two years after which he was assigned to complete a tour of duty in Viet Nam as a Navy Intelligence Officer. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, he returned to Utah State and received a second degree in Ag Economics. Upon completion of this degree, he was hired by Federal Land Bank (later known as Farm Credit Services) as a Certified General Appraiser and spent over 30 years as a dedicated employee. He loved his job and had an impact on many through his hard work and dedication.
He loved his kids, grandkids, great grandchild and attending all their activities. He loved his job, snaffle bit futurity training, golf and traveling with his brother Vance.
He is survived by his wife Susan of 58 years, his sons Paul (Sandy), Caldwell, ID Jeff (Mecale), Meridian, ID and Molli Herzberg (Brandon), Caldwell, ID 11 grandchildren 1 great grandchild and his brother Vance Dunn (Betty) of North Carolina.
The services will be held at the Schwab-Matthews Funeral home on Friday the 18th at 2 PM. Following these services, he will be taken to the Bern Idaho cemetery where he will be put to rest with military honors.
