Richard W. "Dick" Elliott, age 81, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 5:50 a.m. in Blessing Hospital.
Richard was born on October 24, 1944 in Perry, MO, a son of Ernst and Goldie Blanche Hobbs Elliott.
Richard was a 1963 graduate of Mark Twain High School in Center, MO. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served during the Vietnam War from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1967. After Richard's service, he worked at Electric Wheel for the next 20 years. He then took a position as a bartender, where he met the love of his life, Sheri Ann McCabe. Richard's career then brought him to Hoebing Lawn and Garden, where he repaired small engines for the next 37 years until his retirement.
Richard enjoyed singing, and in his spare time he was an accomplished karaoke singer.
Survivors include three children: Tim (Colleen) Elliott of Mexico, MO; Katrina (Chris) McKay of Hannibal, MO; and Angela (Mathew) Frese of Quincy; five grandchildren: Danielle, Alexis, Proctor "J.J.", Vincent, and Chyanne; a great grandchild; eight siblings: Susan McLaughlin of Murphysboro, IL; Debbie (Greg) Shepherd of Fulton, MO; Sharon (Bruce) Terry of Bloomsdale, MO; Russell (Patty) Elliott of Mexico, MO; Becky Goodwin of Center, MO; Sherrie (Lance) Brown of Monroe City, MO; Sandy (Todd) Peak of Benton City, MO; and Joni (Kenny) Sharp of Perry, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his partner of 36 years, Sheri Ann McCabe, Richard was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Philip and Calvin Elliott and Bill Jones; a sister-in-law, Shirley Elliott; and two brothers-in-law: Don McLaughlin and Mike Goodwin.
Graveside Service: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025 in Mendon Cemetery with military honors provided by Bear Creek American Legion Post 823 and the United States Army Funeral Honors Detail.
Burial: Mendon Cemetery, Mendon, IL
