Gil earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Washington University and a master’s degree in computer science from University of Missouri Rolla. He enjoyed a fulfilling career with Union Electric, now Ameren, retiring in 1998. After retiring, he volunteered at John Calvin Presbyterian Church, where he was a founding member. A true handyman, Gil had many hobbies, including stamp collecting and working with computers. During the beanie baby craze, he found joy in donating them to children with cancer. Gil also taught computer classes to elders seeking help and, alongside his wife Marion, taught Sunday school. He had a deep love for children and animals, especially his grandchildren and dogs. Gil cherished staying connected with former coworkers, often meeting them for lunch. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gil's name to John Calvin Presbyterian Church.
