Richard "Ricky" Engelhardt

Richard "Ricky" Engelhardt, of Pompton Plains, died at home Friday, January 28, 2022. He was 64.
Born in Paterson, Ricky was the son of Fred and Eugenia Engelhardt. Raised in Totowa, he was a graduate of Passaic Valley High School.
After high school, Ricky joined his father and brothers in the family business, Imperial Plating in Lyndhurst.
Marrying Kathleen Quinn in 1981, the couple first lived in Totowa before settling in Pompton Plains in 1985. There, they raised four beautiful daughters: Danielle, Lauren, Kelli and Brittany. Ricky was a fantastic husband and father, and loved his girls dearly.
In 2017, Ricky almost lost his life to liver failure; however, his strength and determination pulled him through. He was always so grateful to his liver and kidney donors for giving him a second chance at life. In the years following he was blessed to welcome the births of two grandchildren. Ricky delighted in his granddaughter, Charlotte and his grandson, Jay and was so happy to have them in his life. He loved nothing more than just being with them, and with all his family especially hanging by the pool in the summer.
Ricky is survived by his wife, Kathy Engelhardt; his children, Danielle Rankin and her husband Doug, Lauren Brigham and her husband John, Kelli Engelhardt, and Brittany Engelhardt; his brothers, Fred and Eddie Engelhardt; his sister, Betty Ann Dondero; his grandchildren, Charlotte and Jay; and his mother-in-law, Mary Quinn.
He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Eugenia Engelhardt, and by his father-in-law, Marty Quinn.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, February 2 from 9 am to 12 pm. A funeral Mass will be held 12:30 pm Wednesday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Pompton Plains. Burial will follow at the First Reformed Cemetery, Pompton Plains.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Transplant Center at Montefiore Hospital in Ricky's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
