Richard Esposito Obituary

Richard J. Esposito Sr., 88, a Clay Plant Road, Brockway, PA resident, died on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Penn Highlands DuBois.

Born on November 27, 1936, in Brockway, PA, he was the son of the late Frank and Carmella Maria Provenzano Esposito.

Retired, he had been employed at O-I/Brockway Glass in Machine Upkeep for over 25 years. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Corpsman during the Korean War Era from 1954-1957, and was past commander at Parson-Marnati Post #95 of the American Legion in Brockway. Rich was a member at St. Tobias Church also in Brockway, where he was a Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the Glass Workers Union, and was involved in Alcoholics Anonymous for 54 years where he helped countless people with addiction. He enjoyed cheering for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, and loved watching Pitt and Penn State football. His greatest joy came from all the road trips he made following his grandkids around, wherever that might be, attending high school and college sporting events and art performances. His absolute favorite spot to watch Brockway events was in the corner of the soccer field right next to the hot dog stand! Perhaps nothing was as relaxing to him as just sitting on the front porch of his cabin.

He is survived by a daughter, Richele M. Esposito of DuBois; a son, Richard J. (Dana) Esposito Jr. of Brockway; a daughter, Kristi Ann (Steve) Bart of Woodstock, MD; and a son, John Francis Esposito of Enola, PA; grandchildren: Andrew S. (Monica) Bart, Christopher (Tsuki) Bart, Nicholaus (Heather) Bart, Jacob (Kaitlyn Keffler) Bart, Cristina Esposito, Philip (Alecia) Esposito, Julianna Esposito, Jarrett Esposito, Anthony (Aryanna Fink) Esposito and Ian Benjamin Bart, as well as by six great-granddaughters: Erin and Amelia Bart, Luna Lasky, Stevie and Frankie Esposito and Liliana Bart.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by siblings, Gerald, Theresa, Connie, Geraldine, Josephine, Francis, Anna, John and Patty. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Bart, and a daughter-in-law, Ashley Stang Esposito.

Visitation will be on Monday, August 18 from 5-8 p.m. at the Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, August 19 at 11 a.m. at St. Tobias Church, with Fr. John Detisch presiding. Burial will follow in St. Tobias Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by Parson-Marnati Post # 95 of the American Legion Honor Guard.
