Richard F. “Hopper” Johnson, Jr. 66, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, November 5th, 2025, at Heritage Hospice. Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 1p.m. Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Hopper was born May 17th, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Richard F. “Skip” Johnson, Sr. and Betty Robinson. Hopper served his country honorably in the United States Marines from 1977-1979. After his discharge he returned to Cedar Rapids to be with family. Hopper and his first wife, Jane Grawe, shared two children together. After their divorce, he found love again and married Lisa J. Hochstetler.

Hopper enjoyed spending time with friends and family and loved to joke around and have a good time. He loved to BBQ, go fishing, camping and spending time outdoors.

Survivors include his stepmother, Janet Johnson of Cedar Rapids; children, Candace (Micha) Mims of Kansas City, Missouri, and Jared Johnson of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter, Maci Johnson; siblings, Lewis (Josephine) Craven of Cedar Rapids, and Tracy (Micheal) Jones of St. Paul, Minnesota; best friends/cousins, Marcus (Man) Johnson and Bill Elam, both of Cedar Rapids, followed by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Hopper was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa J. Johnson-Hochstetler, father, Richard Sr. “Skip”; mother, Betty Robinson, brother, Tarris Gamble, two sisters, Angela Johnson and Gina Gamble, and stepbrother, Anthony “Tony” Kennedy.
