James Benjamin "JB" Johnson, Jr., a beloved family man and respected figure in his community, passed away on September 23, 2025, in St. Cloud, Florida. Born on March 18, 1942, in Orlando, Florida, JB was a steadfast presence in the lives of those who had the privilege to know him.
For 52 years, JB owned and operated his own commercial laundry repair business, a venture he dedicated himself to until his retirement in 2020. His commitment to his craft was matched only by his kindness and welcoming demeanor, earning him the love and respect of both customers and colleagues. JB's work ethic and passion for his business were evident, but it was his role as a family man that truly defined his legacy. He believed that any time spent with family was a good time, and this philosophy shaped the warm and loving environment he fostered around him.
With a personality that resonated with authenticity, JB was known for carrying his own drum—marching to the beat of his own distinctive rhythm. Those who met him would often describe him as kind, genuine, and devoted, emulating the values he cherished throughout his life.
JB's interests extended beyond his professional life. He found joy in deer hunting, fishing, and being on the water, activities that often brought him closer to family and friends. These hobbies allowed him to connect with nature and share memorable moments with loved ones.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Johnson, and their son, Michael Shane Johnson, Sr., along with his wife, Julie. JB took immense pride in his grandchildren: Sabrina Nicole Stubbs, Michael Shane Johnson, Jr., Shannon Marie Walker, Shelby Joy Sammons, and Zachariah Keyes Fleming. Additionally, his great-grandchildren—Bailey Stubbs, Alani Johnson, Aria Johnson, Brooke Stubbs, Brycen Walker, Lily Walker, Zander Fleming, Madison Lorraine, and Brooklyn Lorraine—were a source of endless joy and pride for him.
JB's legacy also includes his sister, Kay Heath, and her husband, Marshall, as well as his brother, Marion Johnson, and his wife, Julie. He was preceded in death by his cherished daughter, Beverly Joy Sammons, his sister, Phyllis Jacobs, and his parents, James Benjamin Johnson, Sr. and Martha Emma (Monk) Johnson.
As we remember James Benjamin "JB" Johnson, Jr., we celebrate a life defined by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to family. He will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to share in his journey.
