Richard "Dick" Warren Farwell, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025, at the age of 87. The beloved son of the late Warren G. Farwell and Esther Keith, Dick is survived by his devoted wife, Joan T. Port-Farwell, and cherished memories of his first wife, Geraldine Farwell, who predeceased him in 2002.
After graduating from Weymouth High School, Dick joined the Naval Reserve at just 17 years old. He went on to have a long and successful career in construction, spending 40 years as the owner of Richard Farwell & Sons, a thriving business on the South Shore. During those years, Dick made countless memories with his family through camping, boating, and skiing adventures.
Dick will be deeply missed by his children: Rich Jr., Michael (Jennifer), (Heidi), Daniel, and Deborah; and his stepchildren: Terri (Steve), Lisa (Pat), and Michael (Lori). Known as the best "Papa," he is also survived by his loving grandchildren: Patrick, Kali, Kevin, Cameron, Mia, and Aidan, as well as his great-granddaughter, Evelyn. Dick also leaves behind his step-grandchildren: Patrick, Greg, Alex, Andrew, Harry, and Rebecca. He is survived by his sister, Beverly, along with many nieces and nephews.
Dick's favorite moments were spent surrounded by his family and friends, tending to his yard, and savoring every last bite of his meals. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy will be one of love, kindness, and the lasting impact he made on so many lives.
