Richard M. Flynn Sr.

Richard "Richie" M. Flynn Sr., 77, of Ashburnham, died peacefully Sunday, September 18, 2022, in the Rose Monahan Hospice House, Worcester, after an illness.
Born in Waltham on January 28, 1945, he was the son of the late Vincent and Florence (Ahearn) Flynn. He graduated from Waltham High School with the Class of 1963. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Vocational Education and his Master of Arts Degree in Vocational Education from the University of Kentucky. Richie was a Mechanic employed by Wood's Ambulance of Gardner for several years. He was previously a Diesel Mechanics Instructor employed by Shawsheen Valley Vocational Technical High School in Billerica for several years prior to his retirement.
Richie loved to work, especially on cars. He was a teacher at heart and loved to teach his grandchildren new and exciting things when he had the opportunity. But the time he loved and cherished the most was spent with his family, treasuring all the special moments they had together.
Richie is survived by his wife of 40-years, Nancy J. (Colyer) Flynn of Ashburnham; four sons, Paul Kelsch and his wife Roberta of Pennsylvania, Dennis Kelsch and his wife Jessyl of North Carolina, Richard Flynn Jr. and his wife Chelsea of Ashburnham and Thomas Flynn and his significant other Samantha Meikle of Leominster; a daughter, Shannon (Flynn) Gaudet and her husband Jay of New Ipswich, NH; seven grandchildren, Dalton Dupont of Pennsylvania, Ashlee Kelsch of Pennsylvania, Cayden, Colton, and Calista Flynn of Ashburnham, Nola and Finnian Gaudet of New Ipswich, NH; four brothers, Vincent Flynn of Farmington, NH; Malcolm Flynn and his wife Ingrid of Hyde Park, Peter Flynn and his wife Roxann of Hampton, NY, and Philip Flynn and his wife Patricia of Franklin; a sister, Jane Ellen Kelly and her husband Joseph of Falmouth; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 26, 2022, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA, with a Mass at 12:00 p.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at New Cemetery, Old Nims Road, Ashburnham, MA.
Calling Hours will be held Monday, September 26, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
