Waynesville, Richard Jackson Foster, Sr., 65, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at his home.
A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late William and Nina Shepard Foster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Foster, Jr.; sister, Ann Reynolds. He enjoyed working on vehicles and being around his grandkids. Richard enjoyed watching old TV shows. He was a great man, loving dad, and grandfather. Richard thought of others before himself.
Richard is survived by his companion of 23 years, Norma Maynard; two daughters, Elizabeth Foster and Michelle Gardner; three sons, Anthony, Kevin, and Kirk Gardner; four brothers, Mike (Laura), Ronnie (Elmeda), Robert (Donna), and Jim Foster (Mary); ten grandchildren, Collin, Allison, Chandler, Aiden, Christian, Natalie, Nathan, Peyton, Kane, and Annabelle.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Piney Mountain United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Dennis Thurman officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Candler in the Chapel of Faith.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
The care of Mr. Foster has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
