Richard Alexander "Rick" Gillespie

Richard Alexander Gillespie, best known as Rick, passed from this mortal journey on June 18th, 2025, in Duvall Washington.

Rick was born to Mark Alan Gillespie and Angela Dawn Pinnock Gillespie on August 19th, 2005, in Utah. He was the 6th child in a family of 8 children. His siblings were his 4 brothers; Nick, Stephen, Johnathan Tex, and Charlie, and his 3 sisters; Jessica, Ashlee, and Hannah.

Rick grew up in Utah unil he was 3 when he and his family moved to Duvall. He a attended the Riverview School District starting with their preschool program and then went to Cherry Valley Elementary, Tolt Middle School, and Cedarcrest High School.

Rick started the Open Doors program at Lake Washington Technical College in fall 2022. There, he was able to start to study his passion of turning wrench in the automotive industry. As a younger teen he loved to mow lawns and save what he earned. He worked at 3 different businesses in Duvall; the Rocking E Feed store, Pentz Cast Solutions, and Papa Murphy's Take and Bake Pizza.

Rick was a complex and amazing individual, a bundle of energy since birth. Since he could walk, he was always wanting to be outdoors. Being in the house too long would make him feel like he was cooped up and antsy. He loved to run, bike, work in the yard, and find projects that he could work on. He loved toys that were loud, and as a toddler loved to push around the vacuum and lawn mower.

The older he got, Rick found he loved to work with motors. He was always taking apart and tinkering with machines, finding ways to make them more powerful and louder. Rick was a quick study and liked to learn by doing and watching someone. He could see what they did, mimic their movements, and duplicate. Some things worked and some things did not. If it didn't, he would take a break and then jump back in out of sheer determination. Sometimes if he could not get it to work, he would then Jerry-rig it, to at least get it going. The last couple years he worked and purchased his big black 1989 Dodge WD250 truck, which was to be his passion project.

Rick had a sweet heart and easily connected with anyone. He could be crass and irreverent and also tenderhearted and kind. He had a magnetic personality that drew people to him. He loved being with friends, listening to all types of music, dancing and having a good time, especially if it was outdoors. He also loved driving fast and recently experienced motorcycles, riding them and loving every minute of it.

He loved his country, and he was not afraid to stand up to anyone who said otherwise. His main décor was Americana themed. He usually had something with the American flag on his person at all times; in his hoodies, hats, boots, shirts, his lanyard, etc.

Rick is survived by his mother, Angela Gillespie, his siblings and maternal grandmother Pauline Pinnock. Many aunts and uncles and cousins.

Rick is proceeded in death by his father Mark Gillespie, both grandfathers Orville Tex Pinnock and Leo Richard A. Gillespie and paternal grandmother Charlene Saxton Gillespie. Richard will have his ashes kept with his family.
