Richard F. Gorash

July 21, 1944 – July 2, 2025

Richard F. Gorash passed away on July 2, 2025 in Highland, NY after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 21, 1944 in Nanticoke, PA, the son of Frank and Catherine Gorash.

Richard graduated from Newport Township High School in Mocanaqua, PA and attended Wilkes College. He served in the United States Army with the Military Police in Korea and was stationed with the Eastern NORAD Region at Stewart Air Force Base. Richard retired from IBM after a 25-year career, and most recently worked at Enterprise in Newburgh, N.Y.

Richard is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of nearly 59 years, Diane (Milton, NY); and his loving daughter Danielle Gorash Holland and his adored grandchildren Logan and Arden Holland (Marlboro, NY); his sister-in-law Daralene Jewell (Valatie, NY) and his nephew Michael Brennan and his wife Jennifer and great-nieces Elise and Maya (Valatie, NY); his sister and brother-in-law Louise and Tom Hiller (Mountaintop, PA), and his niece Cally Miller, her husband Brian and their children; his sister and brother-in-law Karen and Pete Malishchak (Shickshinny, PA), and his nephew Nick and niece Katelin; and lifelong friends whom he loved as family.

Richard would light up a room wherever he went, with his signature smile and easy-going, humorous nature. An avid NY Yankees fan, he loved going to games with his wife and friends. Richard was a lifelong fisherman and enjoyed anything about cars, a passion he took with him into his retirement career. Above all, Richard's wife and family meant the world to him, and he loved spending time with them and grilling out for them during the summer months. The many wonderful memories of Richard will be with us forever.

Private funeral services will be held at the DiDonato Funeral Service, Inc in Marlboro, NY with interment to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newburgh, NY. Donations in Richard's name may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Center.
