Richard L. Gordon, age 81, of Evington, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 14, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings, his beloved wife of 51 years, Esther Gordon, and his daughter, Rena Gordon.

Richard is survived by his one sister, Linda Kay Robertson, two daughters, Lisa Keesee (Robbie) of Evington and Kim Lewis (Shon) of Evington. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Zach (Renassa), Coty (Morgan), Stephanie (Jake), Paul (Michelle), Curtis (Kasey), Bailey, Hannah, Makenzie (Devin), and Kooper, as well as nine great-grandchildren: Dixie, Ashton, Tucker, Brynleigh, Carson, Maison, Jackson, Saylor, and Beckett; six bonus great grandchildren, and his dog Queenie.

Richard was a dairy farmer for over 50 years, he loved growing a garden, catfishing, coon hunting, and fighting chickens, but most of all he loved his family.

A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. The family will receive friends following the service from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and all other times at the residence of his daughter, Lisa, 11910 Leesville Road B, Evington, VA 24550.
