Mrs. Shirley Ann Epperson Bowman, 87, of Evington, VA, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, VA. She was born August 14, 1938, in Patrick County, VA, to the late Rufus and Bessie King Epperson. Shirley retired from General Electric after many years of dedicated service. Left to cherish her memory are two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Elizabeth Bowman and James and Brinda Bowman; a son-in-law, Roger Mays; five grandchildren, Rhonda Duff, Jessica Honick, Ann Marie Stum, Tyler Schnase, and Brandy Flowers; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Hiatt. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Bowman; a daughter, Tammy Sue Bowman Mays; three sisters, Ruby Senter, Alpha Ritenour, and an infant sister; and five brothers, Granville Epperson, Charles Epperson, Haywood Epperson, David Epperson, and Woodrow Epperson. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
