Richard Wayne Hadley

November 26, 1945 – January 9, 2026

Richard Wayne Hadley, born on November 26, 1945, in Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon John Hadley and Estella Dolores DePalma, and by his brother, Lance Hadley. Richard is survived by his son, Richard Wayne Hadley; his daughter-in-law, Melissa Robin Hadley; his grandchildren, Melina Grazier (Rick), Jonathon Hadley, Vance Hadley (Leona), Bowen Quintanilla, and Brenon Quintanilla; and his great-grandsons, Theodore Grazier and Benjamin Hadley. He is also survived by his brother, Terry Hadley, and sister-in-law, Debra Hadley.

In his younger years, Richard traveled extensively throughout Europe with his father, stepmother, and brothers-experiences that shaped his appreciation for the world beyond home. Switzerland held a particularly special place in his heart and remained one of his most cherished memories.

Richard was a lifelong horseman and a master farrier by trade. He graduated from the North Texas Farriers School on March 28, 1971, under the instruction of Elmer Seybold. Over decades of dedicated work, he refined his craft to an exceptional level. His skill, precision, and work ethic earned him deep respect within the farrier community, and many regarded his craftsmanship as virtually unmatched.

Known for his generous spirit, Richard was always the first to lend a helping hand, though he was humble and reluctant to accept help himself. He possessed a deep thirst for knowledge and remained curious throughout his life, always eager to learn, grow, and better understand the world around him.

He also held a deep appreciation for his neighbors, who were more than just those living nearby-they were like family. The bonds he shared with them were built on trust, kindness, and mutual care, and their presence brought him comfort, companionship, and a true sense of home.

Above all else, Richard was a man of unwavering faith. He loved God with every fiber of his being and found strength, fellowship, and purpose through his spiritual family at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Cleveland, Texas. His life was a quiet yet powerful reflection of humility, conviction, and devoted service.

Richard leaves behind a lasting legacy of faith, craftsmanship, generosity, and love-one that will continue to live on through his family, his cherished neighbors, and the many lives he touched.
