RICHARD A. HALL

HALL, Richard A. Of Marshfield, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully, on January 5, 2026, after a brief illness. He was 94. Born during the Great Depression, Richard graduated from Marshfield High School in 1949, where he captained the football, basketball, and baseball teams. A descendant of Mayflower ancestors, he spoke of his heritage with humility and humor. He earned his bachelor's degree with honors from Dartmouth College in 1953 and his MBA from Dartmouth's Amos Tuck School of Business in 1954. Known as "Dick" to friends, he later built a distinguished career in finance at Scudder, Stevens & Clark, where he became Managing Director and partner. A Chartered Financial Analyst, he retired in 1985 but continued advising clients and charitable organizations. A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Richard served as a Supply Corps officer, including sea duty aboard the USS Hyades and the USS Clarence K. Bronson. Deeply committed to Marshfield, Richard served on numerous town committees, as Town Moderator, and as a longtime member of North Community Church. He also served as Chairman of the Board of the Animal Rescue League of Boston and advised the organization for more than forty years. He is survived by his wife, Lois; his children, Jonathan (Karen), David (Meredith), and Meredith (Daniel) Doherty; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Maurice and Priscilla; and his brother, Danforth. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 10, at 11:00 a.m., at North Community Church, 72 Old Main Street, Marshfield Hills, followed by a reception at the church parish house.
