Mr. Richard Wayne Hammond, 74, of Lancaster passed away Saturday, November 22, 2025, at his home. He was born July 2, 1951, in Lancaster, a son of the late George and Viola Hammond. Richard was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church and loved NASCAR, fishing, and music. He enjoyed listening to country music and 70's rock, especially Keith Urban and Bon Jovi. Richard loved muscle cars-especially his '68 Camaro-and was dedicated to caring for his birds and fish. He was laid back, easy-going, and appreciated the simple things in life. He also enjoyed restoring and painting vehicles. Richard loved his cat, Susy.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Hammond will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. from the graveside with Rev. Thad Jacobs officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Memorial Park.
Mr. Hammond is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hammond of Lancaster; a son, Richard Christopher (Georgia) Hammond of Lancaster; a daughter, Misty Elizabeth (Larry) Ammons of Kershaw; two sisters, Shirley (Jack) Funderburk and Carolyn Huneycutt, both of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Kristen (Tony) Bell, Boo Hammond, Charlie Ammons and Chase Ammons; and two great grandchildren, Harper Ammons and Fayleigh Bell.
