Richard Horling Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lehrer-Gibilisco Funeral Home - Rahway on Feb. 2, 2026.
Richard Horling, beloved husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on the morning of January 22, 2026.

Richard was born on February 17, 1947. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1968, a chapter of his life that reflected his quiet strength, dedication, and sense of duty.

A hardworking man throughout his life, Richard spent many years working alongside family at Anthony's Bike and Key Shop in downtown Rahway, New Jersey, where he became a familiar and trusted presence in the community. Most recently, he served as Head Locksmith at Green Brook Regional Center, working for the State of New Jersey, a role he took great pride in. Richard also was a member of the Master Locksmith Association and the Rahway Yacht Club.

Richard was married to the love of his life, Linda, on February 14, 1970, and together they shared a devoted marriage filled with love, partnership, and family for nearly 56 years. He was a proud and devoted father to four children and a cherished grandfather to ten grandchildren, all of whom were the greatest joy of his life.

Richard is predeceased by his son Richard Shawn. He is survived by his wife Linda; his children Stephanie, Blaze and Danielle; his daughters-in-law Dawn and Christi; his son-in-laws Scott Ronay and Kevin Dreher: and his grandchildren: Bryan, Aiden, Shane, Emma, Peter, Jack, Kelsey, Sam, Owen and Grace.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Rahway Yacht Club on Saturday, February 21, at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and remember Richard.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory may be made to the Joan Dancy ALS Foundation in honor of Shawn:
