Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Hair-Wards Funeral Chapel on Feb. 2, 2026.
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Richard Howard Jr.. Affectionately known as Rick, Ricky, or "Frogger", Rick joined his parents in eternal rest with the Lord on Dec. 22, 2025. As we mourn the loss of a beloved father, brother, uncle, cherished PaPa, and friend, we choose to celebrate the vibrant life he lived and the lasting impact he made on everyone who was fortuanate enough to cross his path.
Born to Richard and Shelia Howard in
Klamath Falls, Oregon on Febuary, 20, 1962, Rick was raised with three brothers in the close-knit community of Bly. Rick had a way of leaving a lasting mark wherever he went. From a early age he showed a mischievous sense of humor and could be found always cracking jokes, making smiles, and forcing people out of their comfort zones.
In his younger years, he spent eight years as a fighter with the Bly Boxing Club while exhibiting that courage volunteering for Bly Rural Fire Department, where he earned recognition for "Rookie of the Year." Later, he settled into his dual role as a dedicated ranch hand, fence builder and all around handyman on the side. Indeed it was known, if you sought a man to do a job Frog is the one you called.
Rick was a proud father of two daughters, and his love for them was unwavering. Strong, dependable, and sometimes rough around the edges, but always soft at heart, he guided them with quiet strength, and took immense pride in the women they became. His utmost joy came from his right-hand-man, his grandson, and being Papa was a role he held with great pride. He was a man who kept his friendships in high regard and always remained steadfast and loyal to those he cared for. Rick is survived by his beloved daughters Jennifer Howard, and Lacie Hoblitzell; cherished grandson Bradley Hoblitzell; loving brothers Tim, Dennis, Dan and wife Tina Howard; Nieces Shelia, Deven Howard and Daniele Smith; nephews Heath, Sean and Travis Howard and their spouses; Dylan Smith and Amber and Kassandra Howard.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Howard Sr. Sheila Cavin.
