Richard Hulburt Obituary

Richard "Dick" Hulburt, 96, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025 at Commonwealth Senior Living, King's Grant House, in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Born October 18, 1928, in Brooklyn, MIchigan, Dick was the son of Pearl (King) and Harry Hulburt. He was a 1946 graduate of Brooklyn High School and lifelong resident of Jackson, Michigan before moving to Virginia Beach in 2021.
A proud Korean War Veteran, Dick served as Master Sergeant for the 578th Engineers Combat Battalion and led his platoon in the building of construction projects.
Upon returning from the war, he married the love of his life, Polly Sargent, and together they shared 65 years which included building their home, raising a family and traveling through 48 states. He retired as Production Control Manager of Marben Corporation, Jackson.
Dick was most proud of the accomplishments of his two sons and the many years spent in the enjoyment of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He now joins his parents, wife, Polly, sister, June, and brothers Ron and Bob. He will be dearly missed by his sons Brent (Sharon) Grandville, and Brian (Mary Jo) Virginia Beach.
A private graveside service will be held for the family in Michigan at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff at King's Grant House and Wings of Virginia Hospice for their support and loving care given to Dick. In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Virginia Hospice, or a charity of one's choice.

I am sorry to read of Dick's passing. Knowing Dick through the years was a pleasure as he always had something nice to say to ne and would laugh easily. I am so sorry to hear of Uncle Dicks passing. He was such a character while we were growing up and into adulthood. Oh how we loved going to visit them in Jackson. All 9 of us have nothing but fond memories of our Aunt and Uncle
