Richard C. Humphrey, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2025, in Rochester, KY, at the age of 76. Born on Saturday, January 1, 1949, in Madisonville, KY, Richard's life was one of dedication, service, and joy, which touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Richard was preceded in death by his loving parents, William B. and Pauline Jenkins Humphrey. His memory will be forever cherished by his wife, Jayne Ann Parker Humphrey of Rochester, KY, two children, Brian Humphrey (Ali) of Carson City, Nevada, and Jennifer Evans (Tommy) of Cromwell, KY. Richard's joy was multiplied by his five grandchildren, Shawna (Nick), Hannah (Zac), Alexis (Eric), Walker, and Addison, as well as his three step-grandchildren, Maggie, Ty, and Luke, and three step-great-grandchildren.
He attended Greenville High School, Richard's commitment to his country was evident through his service as a United States Marine Corp, where he completed a tour of duty in Vietnam. Following his military service, Richard dedicated 18 years of his career to Peabody Coal Company.
Richard's interests were a reflection of his love for the outdoors and his hands-on abilities. He was an avid duck hunter, finding peace and solitude at his beloved cabin on the Green River in Rochester, KY. His skills as a handyman were evident in the care he took in maintaining and improving his cabin retreat. Richard's passion for fishing was well-known, and he spent many joyful hours in the company of his faithful chocolate lab, COCO.
Graveside services will be held at the Rochester Cemetery Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 1:00pm with Bro. Roger Heltsley officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester Cemetery where military rights will be presented by the Ohio County AM Vets, serving as pallbearers will be his family and friends.
